Door Fitting Guide

Choosing the right door size is essential for a secure, professional installation. BGW Doors are pre-hung and pre-machined, shipped “knocked down” to prevent damage and allow for easier handling.

🧱 Understanding Door Sizes:

Each BGW Door listing includes two measurements:

  • Panel Size – The size of the actual door slab (each side for double doors).

  • Total Unit Dimensions – Includes both door panels, the frame (jamb), and threshold.

Example:
Panel Size: 30" x 80"
Total Unit Dimensions: 61 1/4" x 81" x 5 1/4"

📏 How to Measure Your Opening:

  1. Remove your existing door and trim (if applicable).

  2. Measure the rough opening width stud to stud.

  3. Measure the height from subfloor to the underside of the header.

  4. Ensure there's at least 1/2" to 1" clearance beyond the total unit dimensions for proper shimming and squaring.

🧭 Swing Orientation:

To determine swing direction:

  • Stand outside your home, facing the door.

  • If the hinges are on the left, it’s a left-hand swing.

  • If the hinges are on the right, it’s a right-hand swing.

🔨 Installation Notes:

  • BGW Doors include the jamb, casing, and molding.

  • Doors are machined and ready for assembly.

  • Assembly time: 10–15 minutes per unit.

  • Handles sold separately.
